Hutch Kids Child Care Center was established in 1990 by Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC) to provide quality on-site child care for the children of FHCRC employees. We also welcome children whose parents work for the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and employees of the University of Washington who have affiliation with FHCRC. In 2009, Hutch Kids began welcoming families from the community.
Hutch Kids is administered and operates as a separate 501(c)(3) non profit corporation with a Board of Directors comprised of parents with children currently enrolled at Hutch Kids, as well as several community members.
Licensing and Accreditation
The State of Washington’s Department of Early Learning (DEL) has licensed Hutch Kids Child Care to serve 123 children Fall through Spring and 141 children in the Summer ranging in age from one month through six years. In providing quality care, Hutch Kids meets, and in many instances, exceeds Washington State’s Minimum Licensing Requirements for Child Care Centers.
In 1997, Hutch Kids Child Care joined an esteemed group of child care centers nationwide when it earned accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the nation’s largest professional organization. Hutch Kids has continued to meet the rigorous standards set by NAEYC, maintaining accreditation since our initial recognition more than 13 years ago. Meeting such high standards is not common. In Washington State, less than six percent of all child care centers are accredited by NAEYC.
Hutch Kids is an Early Achievers rated center of excellence. Early Achievers is Washington State’s Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) for early learning programs.
