I have been working in early childhood education for the last 14 or so years and joined Hutch Kids in May of 2016. I’m originally from Moses Lake, Washington, but have lived in Seattle for the last 7 years. I have experience with a variety of age groups, but my passion was found working with toddlers. I believe this is the age where it is most important to set a solid foundation in learning, building self confidence, and autonomy
Caitlin M. joined the Hutch Kids staff in summer 2016. She has been passionate about teaching for most of her life starting in high school, when volunteering in her little brother’s kindergarten class. She has a bachelor’s degree in Japanese and linguistics from University of Rochester, and taught English in Himeji, Japan for two years, which cemented her interest in early childhood education. She moved to Seattle in early 2013 and has worked in various preschools since then, starting out as a substitute. When not teaching, she enjoys writing, reading, and exploring the city.
Hello, my name is Catherine and I believe that early childhood education is the first critical component in lifelong learning. It is such a joy to watch children learn and grow, and to aide in their development as responsible and respectful people. I have been working with young children for the past three years as I am working toward my Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education. I have lived in the greater Seattle area for my whole life and my hobbies include hiking, yoga and reading.
My name is Chanel and I have been at Hutch Kids since July 2011. I began as a student employee, then in June of 2012, I graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a B.A. in Communication and have been working full time as a teacher at Hutch Kids ever since. Originally, I wanted to become a Sports Broadcaster; however, I have found such pure joy in interacting with and aiding in the development of young children that I have not turned back since. I still have a passion for sports and truly believe that organized games are about more than just winning or losing. Instead, they are about the life lessons learned and the character building gained through the playing. Also, as social beings, organized games teach us how to express ourselves with others and interact in a way that fulfills our need to be connected to one another.
I am a native of the Seattle area and have my Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. I started working at Hutch Kids in 1999. I have worked with infants, waddlers, toddlers and two’s, and am always amazed at how fast they grow from babies to big kids.

Hello, my name is Earnestine. I’m super excited to be a Co-Teacher in the Sea Turtle Classroom for the 2014-2015 school year! I grew up in a small town, Clarksdale, Mississippi and attended Coahoma Junior College in Friar Point, majoring in Elementary Education. After moving to Seattle in 1989, I worked at Mercer Island Child Care Center for 11 years in many capacities (Infant & Toddler Teacher, as well as Assistant Director and Director), while also attending Seattle Central Community College, majoring in Early Childhood Education. I joined Hutch Kids Child Care Center in 2002 and have worked primarily as an Infant Teacher during my time here. Coming from a large family, I enjoy working with and taking care of children. Children are a gift. They have the ability to always bring laughter to those around them. In my free time, I enjoy making gift baskets and flower arrangements; quilting; cooking; and spending time with my children, grandchildren, husband, and church friends.

Ghadah started as a part time float teacher at Hutch Kids in June 2016.
I am excited to join the wonderful staff at Hutch kids and to be able to spend my days playing, laughing and learning with your children. As a recent transplants from the East coast my husband, Ken, and I are having fun exploring Seattle and all of the PNW. I am a native New Englander and lifelong Red Sox fan. Before moving to Seattle, I lived in Warren Vermont and worked as a paraeducator and speech-language pathology assistant(SLPA) at the local elementary school. I miss being able to cross country ski after school; though I don’t miss the bone chilling temps or having to shovel feet of snow to let the dog out. After graduating with a BA in Economics from University of Arizona I worked in the finance industry. While my 2 children were in elementary school I returned to working in a variety of positions in the public school system. I traded the hectic world of numbers and spreadsheets for a world of little chairs, glues sticks and rounded scissors! It was the best career choice ever. In addition to exploring the PNW with Ken and Harold, our 3 year old English Springer Spaniel, I am excited to learn to sail on Puget sound this spring. Also, I love to cook, read and travel.
Heather joined Hutch Kids as an Assistant Teacher in August 2016.
Hi. I’m Heather. I started my career in child care after graduating from The Pennsylvania State University with a B.S in Human Development and Family Studies. I have worked with infants for about 10 years. I then began working with preschoolers and school age children. I enjoy working with children and watching them grow and develop their personalities. I also love listening to their conversations. I find it fascinating to hear what the children have to say.
Scholastic Books Coordinator
Jessica is the mother of two young men, ages 18 and 19, and has one granddaughter, age 2 months. She has been a teacher at Hutch Kids since March, 2008. Her time spent at HK in mixed age preschool classrooms has added to her 14 years of teaching experience. She is currently attending North Seattle Community College, working to earn her degree in early childhood education. Jessica has experience working with children ages 2-5 and feels that she shines best in a preschool age classroom. Her teaching philosophy is child-centered and focuses on aspects of social and emotional development, as Jessica believes that harnessing social and emotional skills early will prepare the children for success in many areas as they build new skills, face new challenges, and learn to become productive community members.

I love the Pacific Northwest. This state is beautiful. I enjoy all the parks here. I love going to the beaches. I’m truly likely to call this place my home. Hi, my name is Lauren. I grew up in the Greater Seattle area and went to high school at Holy Names Academy on Capitol Hill and graduated from Gonzaga University with my B.A in Psychology. After graduation I worked at Seattle Children’s Research Institute on the Walking School Bus study which promoted children’s physical activity by encouraging children to walk to school. In May of 2016 I returned to Seattle after receiving my M.S in Child and Family Studies from the University of Tennessee and I am thrilled to be back in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Promoting children’s healthy development and early learning has always been a passion of mine. I have experience working at various early childhood education centers including a Reggio Emilia inspired center and a center specializing in caring for young children who were prenatally substance exposed. I believe parents and early learning professionals working as a team best supports children’s growth and development. When I am not working with children and families, I enjoy hiking, sailing, cheering on my favorite sports teams, and enjoying life with my family and friends.

Last year I became the proud aunt to twin boys Bradley and Ryan. The past four years, I have been working with children of various ages in and around the Pullman/Palouse area. I’ve been in the field of Early Child Education for about 20 years, and have been at Hutch Kids since 1996. I’m a true believer in lifelong learning! I’ve been going to school (on and off) since starting kindergarten in 1960! Why Early Childhood Education? Because to me there is nothing more beautiful than a child’s smile or the sound of their laughter.
My name is Sharon, but everyone here knows me as Sharon H. I have been working with young children since 1987 and have been working at Hutch Kids since 2011. My name is Toni. I’m newly married and live happily in Auburn, WA. We share a love for our 10-year old Westie, exploring Seattle, photography, and spending time with family. I so enjoy being a “groupie” for my husband who plays piano like a pro by ear! I have been working in Early Childhood Education for 24-years. At an early age, I discovered a passion for children while helping my mother care for foster children in our home. I took courses in high school and college specializing in Child Development. In early 2002, Hutch Kids Child Care Center was introduced to me, where I happily joined on. 12-years later, I look back on my experiences as both support staff and classroom teacher roles with peace and joy in my heart knowing I’ve made a positive difference in the lives of the young people I’ve worked with.
